About Us

Our humble beginnings

On April 3rd 2006, Direct Hire's first phone call was made by its founder, Paul Costa, while sitting on the floor of DHA's 600 square foot Sherman Oaks, CA headquarters. He founded DHA on the idea that the staffing industry is a people business, not a numbers business. Relationships are not easily quantified; they take time and care to build. The dynamic between any two individuals can take infinite forms and as humans, our relationships are constantly evolving.

Our vision was to build an organization that could help other companies hire the best people available while helping employees find jobs that they truly love. This is not just some warm fuzzy idea; we spend the majority of our waking hours with our work colleagues. In the spirit of practicing what we preach, it is also our vision to become the employer of choice in Southern California for recruiters who may be looking for a better place to practice the art of placement.

Who we are today

Well, now we're a little bigger. Our new office has 29 more windows than our last and our staff has grown 50% a year for four years with little turn-over. Our capabilities now reach beyond Southern California and we have successfully placed people at all levels in every functional area within almost every industry!

The success of DHA is a direct result of our Associates and we are all thankful to be surrounded by so many excellent individuals. In four short years, we have developed amazing contacts throughout Southern California. As we emerge from the difficult economic times of the '08 - '09 recession, we value our relationships more than ever. We want to thank all of you who already know us and have been part of our early success.

As our organization continues to grow, we will remain focused on our ethics, generosity and candor. We firmly believe that putting our clients' and our candidates' needs before our own is the only way to operate in an industry where ethics are sometimes found on a 'when convenient' basis. All of the Associates at DHA will continue to work hard to elevate the status of Recruiters (a.k.a. Headhunters) to that of professional trusted advisors.
